Can you buy the I phone and switch it to Alltel or Verizon?

Since I just asked a question about the carrier and it said you can change the SIM card. Now im pretty good with technology but kind of a noob when it comes to phones. is it possible to put an I phone on one of these carriers. Also how would you go about doing that.Can you buy the I phone and switch it to Alltel or Verizon?
No sorry mate, those companies aren't GSM ( sim card) Iphone only work with Gsm companies, Like T-mobile or at%26amp;t,,,but with other companies it has to be unlocked...also to buy the new iphone you have to be a At%26amp;t customer, or buy it unlocked on EbayCan you buy the I phone and switch it to Alltel or Verizon?
